Box Tops for Education

The PTA is encouraging all families to save Box Tops for Education tabs that are on a lot of food containers.  When collected and sent in, these add up to a significant amount of money for our PTA! Each classroom has a Box Tops for Education collection envelope in it.  These will be collected monthly and the classroom with the most Box Tops will earn a small reward (popsicles or something along that line)!  PLEASE CHECK ALL EXPIRATION DATES AND IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 50, CLUSTER THEM IN INDIVIDUAL BAGGIES IN GROUPS OF 50.  This will save us all a tremendous amount of time. Thank you!

Craft Fair

For those new to the school, you may be asking yourself, "What is the PTA and what does it do?" 

The WRS PTA is a completely volunteer driven association. The association is directed by a PTA executive committee composed of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. 

The PTA helps promote the partnership between parents, teachers/staff, and the school community at large. We do this by:

  1. Enhancing the educational experience for students by supporting the needs of teachers and staff through the offering of student enrichment opportunities. Examples include: Jump Rope Jill, The Vermont Symphony Orchestra, Farm Day, The Junkman, Artists-in-Residence, the school-wide Boston trip (next trip is spring 2019), Reading is Fundamental, and more.
  2. Offering activities outside of school for families to have fun and/or learn. These include: Game Night, Movie Night, the Open House dinner and Parent Workshops.
  3. Promoting parent volunteerism - it's a team effort.

We will be communicating with you throughout the year via newsletters and other announcements. Upcoming topics include: Save-the-dates, PTA Budget, Fundraisers, How to volunteer, our Facebook page, and more.

Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 6:30 - 7:30 pm in the WRS library.

 Meetings offer a great way to hear about what is happening at WRS (Principal Powers' update, treasurer update, upcoming events, etc.), to meet other parents, and to offer your ideas of how we can better support our students, families and teachers. The meetings are relaxed - we sit around the table in the library to listen, share, plan and laugh. Please join us! If you cannot attend the first meeting, please come whenever you can- we love to see new faces!  (Remember, you don't have to be a member to attend!)
